Barbara S. Mauch, 77, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at her residence in Zionsville. She was a longtime Zionsville resident.She was born May 18, 1941 in Cleveland, OH to Michael and Pauline (Maker) Surso.� She married Gerald R. Mauch on November 25, 1961 in Indianapolis.� He preceded her in death on January 7, 2018.� She was also preceded by brother Michael P. Surso �Survivors include four children, Laura (Kevin) Starkey of Whitestown, Stephen Mauch of Zionsville, Susan Mauch of Zionsville, and Timothy (Anne Marie Clevenger) Mauch of Holland, MI;�one grandson, Matthew (Samantha Sanders) Starkey; one great grandson, Finlay Starkey; sister-in-law, Virginia Surso of Syracuse, IN; and many nieces and nephews.Barbara attended Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and graduated from Marian University.� She was a devoted teacher retiring in 2010.� She was former Teacher of the Year at St. Monica Catholic School, where she was also nominated for the Disney Teacher of the Year.�Barbara was also recognized in the Who’s Who Amongst Teachers. She truly loved her students.In addition to being a very loving and dedicated mother. She was an avid cookbook collector and loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a well-known local folk artist who loved to paint the American Colonial era.� Much time was spent with her close friends playing Bridge.Barbara was an active member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Zionsville.Calling hours will take place from 11-1PM, Monday, November 26, with a funeral mass to follow at 1PM at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W.
