Betty Marie Rich, 85, of New Ross passed away peacefully May 17, 2014 with her family at her side. Betty was born February 27, 1929 in Indianapolis to Clarence and Thelma Reynolds. She graduated from Washington High School and attended the Indiana Business College. She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, Corinthian Chapter No. 456. She cared deeply about the people in the community and expressed this through her work for the Montgomery County Council on Aging where she provided services to area seniors. She also was owner of the Corner Cupboard antique shop in New Ross. Betty was an active member of the New Ross Methodist Church where she volunteered and was a member of the “Golden Girls” social club. Betty was very devoted to her family and is survived by her husband Cecil, daughters Linda Cummings of Indianapolis, Sherry Slaughter of Lebanon and son Cecil Jr. and his wife Kristin of Anchorage, Alaska. Grandchildren include Brian and Amy Slaughter and Sylvia Rich. She also is survived by her brother and sister-in-law James and Judy Reynolds of Defuniak Springs, Florida. There will be a memorial and dinner to celebrate Betty’s life at the New Ross Methodist Church on Friday May 23 at 5pm. Memorials may be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society.
