Buster Curtiss Rogers, 83 years old of Avon, IN, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 in Avon Health and Rehab. He was born November 4, 1930 in Russellville, IN, son of the late Allen and the late Edith (Yaryoa) Rogers. He married Velma Marilyn Pipes on May 20, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2013. Staff Sgt. Buster C. Rogers was a military police with the Air Force at Roswell, NM. Buster joined the Air Force in 1948 and had his basic training in Texas and California. After one year of service in Nome, Alaska, he went to New Mexico during the remainder of his Army service until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1952. Buster was a member of the American Legion Post 0072 in Crawfordsville, IN. He owned Rogers Cement Contractors and was known around the area for his superior work. He loved woodworking and geneology. Buster and Marilyn were huge fans of country singers Tom and Beverly Grant. Surviving are son, Donald (Linda) Rogers of Thorntown, daughter, Jean Rogers of Silver Springs, FL, sister, Joyce (Rogers) Good of Hobart, half-brother, Denny McAfee of Greenwood, 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Forest Lee Rogers and Kenneth L Rogers. Per Buster’s wishes there will be no visitation. He will be cremated.
