Debra Gentry (Debbie), 62, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 at her residence in Indianapolis, Indiana. Debbie was born on October 13, 1958 in Seoul South Korea, where she was later adopted by two loving parents, the late Lee Veatch (Martha Veatch) and Barbara Maloy (Richard Maloy). Debbie will be greatly missed and survived by her children, Leah Peacock, Delynn Scharbrough (Sean Malicoat), and Larry Gentry (Jessica Bishop), grandchildren, Bradon, Brynne, and Katelyn Scharbrough, Isabelle and Joseph Malicoat, Jacob Riley, Isaiah, and Christopher Gentry, three siblings, Kim Veatch, Ron Veatch, and John Veatch, stepsister Mary Beth Baldridge, stepbrothers Bill Verseman, James Vereman, and Gary Verseman. And her darling cat Joy who she lovingly called pretty girl. Debbie was one that could carry on a conversation leaving no opening for you to get a word in, she could sit at the kitchen table sharing story after story if she had enough coffee and diet coke. She would share stories about her adventures in life such as selling goods off the side of the road in Mexico or traveling in a bus across states. Then there were interests of her that she tried such as stock-car racing, waitressing, and unicycling (hard to image that one). She loved passing time listening to the music of Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn while coloring pages to her heart’s desire! But most of all she loved spending time with her family and dearest friends. For those who knew and loved Debbie deeply will never forget her graceful smile, her hearty laugh, her caring desire to please others, and to be the life of the party. No matter the mood you were in, her laugh could turn any mood around. Those qualities of her will always be remembered!A visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 on Tuesday, August 17th at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 641 North County Road 1050 East, Indianapolis, Indiana 46234.
