Denver J Niemeier, 86 years old of Pittsboro, IN, died Friday, February 11, 2011 in Hendricks Regional Health. He was born May 8, 1924 in Louisville, KY, son of the late Denver John and Audrey Ash Niemeier. He married Mildred Steenbergen on October 22, 1942. They were married for 68 years. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Denver was a dedicated preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ for 59 years serving several congregations in Kentucky and Indiana. He served diligently as an elder in the Lord’s church for many years and for the last 20 years was a member of the Church of Christ in Jamestown, Indiana where he served as an elder and an evangelist. He was a very devoted Christian. He assisted many in their journey of searching for the Truth and growing in the way of the Lord. Denver was known all over the United States for his stand for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Surviving are daughters, Sandra L. (Ronnie-deceased) Walker, and Denver S. (Hughie) Mizell, son, Steve (Connie) Niemeier, brother, Charles Sonny (Vivian) Niemeier, grandchildren, Ronna (Craig) Howell, Todd (Tammy) Walker, Eric (Sarah) Mizell, Stacy (Greg) King, Rachel (Ben) Lanius, Amy (Nick) Worley, Sean (Karie) Walker, Tad (Becky) Niemeier, Seth (Karen) Niemeier, and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Ronnie Walker and grandson Robert Hughie Mizell, Jr. Friends will be received Monday, February 14, 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, IN Services will be held at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Steve Niemeier officiating. Interment will follow in the Brownsburg Cemetery, Brownsburg, IN.
