Garland “Pete” Lingle, of Anderson, Indiana passed on to his heavenly home on April 7, 2016, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on September 21, 1935, in Pollard, Arkansas, to the late John and Ethel (Holifield) Lingle, and spent most of his life in Bloomington, IL having moved to Anderson about 6 years ago.
Pete worked in transportation most of life, managing city bus lines and school bus leasing companies for 38 years. He also drove a shuttle bus for State Farm Ins. corporate headquarters for 12 years. He enjoyed yardwork, woodworking, games, and spending time with his grandkids. He especially enjoyed Phase 10 with his wife and family.
Pete is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol (Cypher) Lingle; one daughter, Jeanne (Lingle) Luttrull, Anderson; four sons, David (Judy) Lingle, Watertown, Wis, Michael (Paula) Lingle, Watertown, Wis., Timothy (Julienne) Lingle, Plainfield, Joseph (Melissa) Lingle, Clarks Summit, Pa.; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Lambert, David (Rebecca) Luttrull, Jeremy (Pam) Lingle, Andrew (Lindsay) Lingle, Nikolas (Stacy) Lingle, Stephen (Heather) Lingle, Christina (Matt) Labins, Michelle Lingle, Catherine Lingle, Christopher (fianc� Kaylee) Lingle, Hannah (fianc� Brandon) Lingle, Jacob (Bethany)Lingle, Robert (fianc� Dakota) Lingle, Sarah Lingle, Katie Lingle, Carolynn Lingle and 7 great grandchildren; brother, Monroe Lingle; sister, Erma Whitaker, both of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm. Sunday, April 10, at Brown Butz Diedring Funeral Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St, Anderson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 11, at Grace Baptist Church, 432 W. 300 N., Anderson, IN with Pastor Doug Stein officiating. Burial will take place at Jones Cemetery.
