James “Jim” Guy Maher, fondly known as “Papa”, 71, of Whitestown passed away on May 4, 2023, at his residence. Jim was born on March 27, 1952, in Columbus, IN to James and Martha Maher. He graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in business, and a certificate in accounting. Papa worked as an accountant for many years before his retirement. He was a talented musician who loved playing guitar; he was the lead guitarist in his band Good Question. He loved being outdoors, enjoying the splendor of God’s creation. He enjoyed taking joy rides in his 1979 Trans Am, or on his motorcycle. Papa cherished spending time with all his grandchildren. He looked forward to spending eternity in the arms of God and would often encourage those around him to have faith.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Robin; children: Kelly (Joe) Todd, James Ryan (Brittany) Maher and Kristina (Eddie) May; stepson: Jason Hollan (Brandy Clem); brothers: Michael (Cassie), Ricky (Donna) and Danny Maher; sisters: Michelle (Dennis) Burbank and Denise (Curt) Volk; grandchildren: Isabelle, Cassius, Alex, Olivia, Cooper, Ariana, Maddie, Isaak, Oliver, and Ayden; many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023, with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 125 West Sycamore Street, Zionsville, IN.
