Jean Louise Kernodle, 87 years old of , Avon, formerly of North Salem, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Hendricks Regional Hospital. She was born September 5, 1924 in Greenville, IN, daughter of the late Clarence D. and Blanche Wolfe. Jean was reared and educated in New Albany, graduating from New Albany High School. She attended Central Normal College in Danville, IN. She worked at Studleys Drug Store and at the IU Medical Center in the dental school. She served on the Election Board for the Republican Party for 40 years. Jean enjoyed watching game shows and doing crossword puzzles. She married Jamie Dean Kernodle in North Salem on January 26, 1946. He survives. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons, Robert (Marilyn) Kernodle of Savannah, GA, John (Karen) Kernodle of Jamestown, daughter, Linda McGuire of Bloomingdale, grandchildren, Amy Kernodle of Jamestown, Matt (Chrissy) Kernodle of Savannah, GA, Jason (Holly) Kernodle of Lebanon, Amanda McGuire of Crawfordsville and Devon McGuire of Bloomingdale, great-grandchildren, Alexa Kirby and Presley Rigdon both of Jamestown, Camron & Ashley Kernodle of Savannah, GA, and Jonah & Adah Kernodle of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by sister, Georgia Watt. Friends will be received Sunday, September 18, 12 noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, Indiana.
