John Granville Eggers, 69 years old of North Salem, IN, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 21, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN, son of the late Harold and Marybell Heckathorne Eggers. John married Carla Jones on September 24, 2010. She survives. He was a member of North Salem Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He worked for Yellow Freight for 25 years and for Smith Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and was a fan of western TV shows. In addition to his wife, surviving are son, John Thomas Eggers and his wife Melissa of Frankfort, IN, step-sons, Craig Jacks of North Salem, Todd Dinkel of Clear Water and Cameron Dinkel of Virginia Beach, brothers, Bill Eggers of Greencastle and Robert Eggers of North Salem, sisters, JoAnn Grennly of Amo, Peg Cavender of North Salem, Joyce Roberts of Montclair and Sue Smith of North Salem, and grandchildren, Michelle, Karly, Kayla, Madison, George, Cohen, Cameron, Kristin, Emily, Abigail. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diann Eggers, daughter, Tammy Bicknell, son-in-law, Tony Bicknell and grandson, Jonathan Eggers. Family and friends will gather Thursday, October 10, 2013, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the North Salem United Methodist Church, North Salem, Indiana. Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ann Spahr officiating. John will be laid to rest on Friday, October 11 at the Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
