Joyce McDaniel, 80, passed away June 9, 2022. She was a long-time resident of Indianapolis.
She was born August 3, 1941, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Gilbert and Gladys Pence. She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Mac McDaniel of Indianapolis; three sons, Jeff (Debbie) Christie of Avon, Jay Christie of Pittsboro, and Turk (Staycee) Christie of Greenwood; one brother, Alan (Dawn) Pence of Danville; eight grandchildren, Alex Christie, Asa Christie, Erin (Jeff) Smith, Leah (Keith) Bergman, Kasi (Adrian) Woodrum, Carson Christie, Cooper Christie, and Cash Christie; and seven great grandchildren, Brycen Bergman, Addison Bergman, Logan Smith, Ryder Woodrum, Rocson Woodrum, Rhett Woodrum, and Race Woodrum.
Joyce was a Ben Davis High School graduate. Class of 1959. She also studied at Central Business – Ind. Central.
She served on the Northwest Hendricks County School Board of Directors for four years.
She attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. She was also a member of the Antelope Club in Indianapolis. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce was always searching for the deeper meaning of life and the Dragonfly became her inspiration for hope and change.
Joyce was a realtor on the southside, including in Fountain Square, for over 40 years. She also spent time as an office manager at Methodist Hospital.
Visitation will take place from 12-2PM, Thursday, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street. A funeral service will follow at 2PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
