Lena Rae (Cleavenger) Heckman of Zionsville, Indiana passed away peacefully on June 13, 2022.
Lena was born on September 6, 1930 in Philipi, West Virginia. She was one of 10 children of Kitty Webb Cleavenger & Wellington Buford Cleavenger.
She was married to Harold H. Heckman for 57 years. They met and married in Tucson, Arizona where Harold was stationed in the Air Force.
In 1965 they built their family home on Daugherty Dr. in Zionsville.
Lena was the mother of two, an avid gardener, quilter, card player, loved to read, was a member of Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority and Zionsville Christian Church. Lena loved being around people and spent years in the service industry until her retirement from the Golf Club of Indiana, where she worked for nearly 20 years.
Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Spending time with her family was the greatest joy of her life. Those who knew Lena know how much she loved and adored each and every one of them.
Lena is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, her sisters Mildred, Betty and Jeannie & her brothers Charles, Robert and Benjamin. She is survived by her son, David Heckman (Sandra) her daughter Vicki Bower (James) her grandchildren Evan Hardin (Abbey), Adam Hardin and Katelyn Heckman and her great-granddaughters Harper & Addison Hardin, her sister JoAnne, and her brothers Johnnie & Richard along with many nieces & nephews.
Celebrate Lena’s life by donating to the Hussey Mayfield Memorial Library in her name. A private celebration of life will be held later this summer.
