Lloyd Landon Jones, 85 years old of North Salem, IN, died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at his residence. He was born January 1, 1925 in North Salem, IN, son of the late Gerald G. and Helen Bowen Jones. He was a member of North Salem Christian Church. He married Phyllis Bond Hicks. She survives. Lloyd graduated with a bachelors degree from Canterbury. He was in the 417th Infantry Regiment of the 76th Infantry Division. He received a bronze star. He was the author of the “Lloyds View From the Bottom” for 12 years. Surviving are son, Jerry Jones, daughters, Jacque Jones Rinehart and Carla Jones Jacks Dinkel, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Janis Jones Rogers. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 22, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, Indiana. Services will be held at Porter Funeral Home, Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ann Spahr officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, North Salem, Indiana.
