Marikay Kapke, 85, passed away Sunday morning, January 29, 2023. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born March 17, 1937 in Boston, MA to James Arthur Edmonds and Carrie May Dilkes Edmonds. She married John Charles Kapke on June 7, 1958 in Wilmette, IL. He preceded her in death in 2003. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (Tim) Maher of Indianapolis, Pamela Anne (Steve) Spurgin of Bargersville, and Deborah Ellen (Bob) Caplette of Easton, PA; two sons, Jeff (Julia) Kapke of Clayton, NC, and Eric (Susie) Kapke of Navarre, FL; one brother, Andy Edmonds of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Elizabeth (Don Peebles) Ford of Tucson, AZ; seventeen grandchildren, Ira, Brennan, Amanda, Kaila, Robert, Trever, Lorenna, Madison, Tyler, William, Nate, Jacob, Logan, Willow, Noah, Josh and Savannah; and eight great grandchildren, Abigail, Olivia, Emerson, Piper, Brooklynn, Jemma, Sylas, and James.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, James “Jimmy” Edmonds; sister, Jeanne Fronske; and one granddaughter, Scarlett Kapke.
She was employed at Manual High School for many years in the guidance department.
Marikay was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Franklin.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, writing, photography and flowers.
Calling hours will be from 2-4PM, Monday, February 6, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street. Rev. Whitney Smith will officiate a memorial service to follow at 4PM at the funeral home.
