Patricia “Pat” Cardinal

Patricia “Pat” Cardinal was born in Indianapolis, IN September 15, 1947 to the late Virgil and Marie Kays.  On May 3, 2022 at 9:20 A.M., the most amazing person passed away at Community South Hospital, in Indianapolis, of multi-organ failure.

She is survived by her three daughters: Desira Renfro, Lori (Brian) Tyler and Jennifer (Danny) Bazan.  Also, her grandchildren: the late William “Billy” Renfro, Brittany (Austin) Faull and Corttney (Joseph) Mushrush.  Additionally, her great grandchildren: Elaina Waltz, Quinn Waltz, Silas Faull, Micah Faull, and Maximilian Mushrush. Plus, Pat’s three sisters, Robin Harvey, Virgilene Law and Beverly Everton.

Now on to the good stuff.  Sewing was one of our mother’s passions. She was an award-winning quilter, and was constantly working with her sister Robin on some kind of sewing project. The entire family has benefited from her passion and generosity, with fabulous quilts and amazingly large Christmas stockings.  Pat retired from David R. Hennessy Attorney at Law firm as a legal secretary; carrying home a friendship and love, created with David, that will transcend time.  While living at Harvard Square Apartments, she actively served as a board member. As a member, she was so proud to be part of building a new playground, for the enjoyment of the kids who living there. As a single, working mother, one of her most prideful and cherished board projects was the School Supply Initiative. This project provided free school supplies to families living in the apartment complex. She spoke of how it warmed her heart to receive the appreciation and thanks from these families that benefited from this generosity.

In closing, we would like to acknowledge all of those who loved her; Especially our Aunt Robin Harvey (sister), Amanda Rogers (niece), Maddie (great niece), Ruzica Maric and Joe and Courtney Waltz. Thank you for all the love and support given to our mom.

Someone once told me that talking about our loved ones, who have passed, is a way for us to keep their spirit alive.  So, everyone please share your stories and help keep the memory of Pat with us all.

Funeral services for Pat are Saturday, May 7 at 4:00 PM. Friends and family may gather from 2:00 PM until time of service at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Ave. Indianapolis 46227.
