Raymond C. Johnson, 95, of Jamestown, died Friday, May 10 at the Brownsburg Meadows. Raymond was born in Carroll County, Indiana on April 28, 1918. He was the son of the late Clarence and Edna (Powell) Johnson. He graduated from Scircleville High School and Purdue University with the first class of 1,000 in 1939. Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country. On May 3, 1941 Raymond married Katheryn (McAfee) in Burlington, Indiana; she preceded him in death. Early in life Raymond farmed with his father. He worked for a milk company in Sheridan for ten years and then bought a farm in Advance. He farmed and delivered mail as a rural route carrier for many years. He was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed watching basketball and other sports on television. Survivors include his children Arlan (Mary) Johnson of Jamestown, Sharon (Mike) Horan of Avon, Steve (Sandy) Johnson of Jamestown and Janet (Bill) Stonecipher of Covington; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort, Indiana immediately following a private family service.
