Ruth A. New, 77 years old of , Poland, IN died on November 8 in The Waters of Greencastle. She was born February 28, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN, daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Duree Neff. She married Willard E. New on July 24, 1953. He survives. Ruth worked at Everet Smith’s grocery store in North Salem. She then worked as a clerk at the North Salem Post Office. She retired after serving as Post Master for 10 years. She was a member of North Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed being with her family playing horseshoes and cards. She loved working in her garden and flower beds, fishing, hummingbirds and her dogs, Katie and Odie. Surviving are daughter, Rosemary (John) Sharp, sons, Danny (Patty) New, and Mark (Charlotte) New, sisters, Doris Purichia, Mary O’Riley, and Shirley Looper, brothers, Charles Neff and Bert Neff, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday, November 10, from 11-1:00 PM, at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, IN
