Sheryl Ann (Davis) Gray, 52, of Indianapolis, formerly of Zionsville, passed away June 8, 2022, at Franciscan Health.
Sheryl was born on October 28, 1969 at Witham Hospital in Lebanon, IN, to Wayne and Bonnie (Robey) Davis. She grew up in Zionsville and completed 12 years of education at Zionsville Community Schools, graduating in 1988. Sheryl married her love, Sherman Gray, on December 21, 1996. They spent over 26 loving years together. In her younger years, she worked as a surgical medical assistant; she ran a successful paving business along with her husband in the Indianapolis area. Sheryl always loved her hometown of Zionsville. After moving back to the community she spent many years working as a Cafeteria Director at Zionsville Middle School. She was a music lover and enjoyed sharing that pastime with her family. Sheryl had a special spot in her heart for the Christmas season. She always made sure to decorate and make it special for her loved ones. She couldn’t wait for the first snow of the season and hoped for a blizzard every year. She found some of her purest joys watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. Sheryl was a free spirit and can now fly with the dragonflies.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Sherman Gray, children, Alex Nommay (Amanda), Lauren Nommay (Jahan Nazar), Shelby Gray, and parents, Bonnie and Wayne Davis. She is also survived by granddaughters, Scarlett and Violett Nommay, daughters of Lauren; Olivia, Addison and Alaina Nommay, daughters of Alex, grandson, Owen Moher, is due the first of September. Sheryl enjoyed her family and took so much pride in her 5 granddaughters. She was beyond excited to be meeting her first grandson this September. Two sisters, Kathy Kay Davis and Jeanne Marie Davis, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 14 at Simplicity Funeral Home at 125 W. Sycamore St. in Zionsville. The viewing is at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Zionsville Cemetery. Directly following the burial, Zionsville American Legion Post 79 will provide a meal to continue the celebration of life.
