Virginia A. Gwaltney, 82, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Meadowbrook Assisted Living in Fishers.
Virginia was born on August 4, 1939, in Anderson, Indiana to the late, Edward and Olive (Carpenter) Gillespie. She was married to the love of her life for over 50 years to the late Donald Gwaltney. Virginia is a graduate of Anderson High School. Virginia worked at Canteen Vending Service. In her spare time, she loved to work on ceramics, go to her church of Southdale Nazarene, quilting, and most of all being around her family that she loved so much.
Virginia is survived by her sons; Steve (Vicky) Owens, Scott (Sibylle) Owens, Kirk (Cindy) Owens; her sister, Margaret Mayles; her lovely 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Connie King; her brothers, Joe Gillespie, Edward Gillespie II, Samuel Gillespie, Harry Gillespie, John Gillespie, and Gilbert Gillespie; and her sisters, Ruth McCord, Helen Mollenkopf, and Dorothea Mikesell
The visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The funeral ceremony will begin right at 1 p.m. at the funeral home and be officiated by Pastor Brad Buhro and Pastor Scott Owens. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association.
