Wayne L. Starkey, 79, of Whitestown, Indiana, formerly of Canton, OH and Warsaw, MO, died May 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.� Wayne was born June 2, 1936 in Canton, Ohio, the youngest of six children to Garland and Hazel Rauh Starkey.� Canton was also where Mr. Starkey was raised, having graduated from East Canton High School in 1954.� He later attended Kent State University, and served in the United States Army until he received his honorable discharge in in February 1966. Mr. Starkey built a successful career in medical sales/technology having worked with several hospitals in Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri during his tenure.� He was a man of strong faith.� His faith led him, while working, to attend Lutheran seminary in Columbus, OH. He will be remembered for his strong faith, gentle spirit, and sense of humor. Mr. Starkey was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Warsaw, and he was a member of Christ Church, the Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Surviving is his beloved wife of 55 years Barbara Karns Starkey whom he wed October 1, 1960 in Canton, OH.� Are surviving are his children, Kevin Starkey (Laura), Jennifer Jennings, and Melissa McDowell (Joe); his grandchildren, Matthew, Heather, Robbie, and Joe Allen; and his sister, Marian Lang (Bud).� Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Leona Simich, Delores Robson, Marilyn Gathers, and June Blanc.A memorial service will be celebrated 4 pm, Friday May 13, 2016 at Christ Church, the Lutheran Church of Zionsville, 600 N. Ford Rd, Zionsville, IN, with visitation from 3pm to 4pm Friday.� Inurnment will take place in the church columbarium at a later time.
