April 10, 1930-Feb. 26, 2012 Marilyn Raye “Tootie” Dossett was born to Raymond “Smug” and Viola Marie (Richardson) Routh. She was big sister to Melvin O. (Martha) Routh. She graduated from New Ross High School in 1948, where she was a cheerleader for the New Ross Blue Jays basketball team. After graduation, she was an RR Donnelley employee. She married William Luther Dossett Jr. on March 17, 1951. He died January 3, 1993. She was a stay-at-home mom to her three children, Rick (Sandy), Denise (Andrew) Blacketer, and Phil (Lori). She slowly returned to the workplace while staying close to home and the children by working part-time at the New Ross Phone Company. Later, she worked at New Ross Custom Farm Service and then the Montgomery County Court House in the clerk’s office. She moved from the clerk’s office to circuit court where she was a court reporter until her retirement. Her life was full of simple pleasures with family and friends with whom she enjoyed trips to Vegas, a good game of Whist, and many joyous family gatherings. She was an avid reader, enjoyed NASCAR, Cubs baseball, Purdue basketball, and spent countless hours knitting and crocheting many treasures for her family. Survivors include her children, her brother, and her grandchildren, Jason Blacketer, Brooke Carrington, Brittany Dossett and Hannah Dossett. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown from noon to 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the New Ross Cemetery with Pastor Chris Renick officiating.
