Carl Milton Mitchell, 84, of Jamestown, died Monday, August 4, 2014, at Homewood Health Campus. Born at home, west of Advance, IN on December 16, 1929, he was the son of Walter and Bessie Mitchell. He married Edna (Marie) Kincaid, June 4, 1953, in Advance, IN. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2005. He graduated from Dover High School in 1949. Carl, a life-long farmer, retired as a school bus driver for the Western Boone School District in 2002 after 43 years. Carl was also an Advance Volunteer Firefighter for several years. He was a member of the Advance Community Christian Church and an avid supporter of 4-H. Carl enjoyed watching his boys, grandchildren and great-grandchildren show their livestock and participate in athletic activities. Survivors are sons Danny, and wife Margaret, Randy, Sammy and wife Kelli, Lanny and wife Shivaun, all of Jamestown, grandchildren, JC, JR, Kelsie, Baylee, Noah and Evie, and four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Emma, Elijah and Elleri. Also surviving are his brothers, Alva, Charles and Jerry and sister, Mildred. Preceding him in death were brothers Jacob, Milford, Nelson, Russell and Durbin. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 8th at the Advance Community Christian Church, 2675 S. State Road 75, Advance, IN. Services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church with visitation 1 hour prior. William “Bill” Kincaid, nephew of Carl, will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Jamestown IOOF Cemetery. In honor of their father, the sons have requested casual attire at the visitation and service.
