Betty Faye Gordon Johnson, 90, our precious mother went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2022, after an extended illness.
She was born April 28, 1932, in Overton County, TN to the late, Dewey W. & Stella Erma (Garrett) Smith. She was a homemaker, faithful servant of the Lord, who was known for being loving, kindhearted, & generous. Betty loved teaching about Jesus and would gather all the neighborhood children for Bible School every summer, continuing to teach Sunday School into her late 70’s. She would sing whether she was taking care of her family or if she was tending her flower garden. Betty never met a stranger and shared her beautiful smile with everyone.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Roseann Gordon, Gail (husband, Gary) Schuyler, & Tim (wife, Elissa) Gordon; brothers, Ray (wife, Patsy) Smith & Elzie (wife, Lou) Smith; sisters-in-law, Sue & Mary Smith; 10 beloved grandchildren, Shawn, Kimberly (Joe), Alisha, Adrian, Justin, Bill, Zack (Krista), Lily, Reagan, & Hannah; 18 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilmer L. Gordon; second husband, Aaron Johnson; son, Bruce W. Gordon; siblings, Walter Garrett, Herbert, Keen, Steve, & Wayne Smith, & Ida Mae Clark; several sisters & brothers-in-law; and many friends.
Services will be at 1 pm Monday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of services.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association.
