Marietta Louada Schmidt

Marietta Louada Schmidt, 86, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born October 9, 1935, in Anderson. Marietta retired from West Central Community Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria for 12 years. She was active in her family’s activities having been involved in the PTO, leader for Brownies & the Girls Scouts. Marietta often spent time volunteering at nursing homes.  She loved spending time at the lake house, being outdoors and fishing, but mostly making memories with her family.

Marietta is survived by her daughters, Tonia (Jack) Looper, LeAnn Pierce (Joe), & Carla Castor; grandchildren, Ryan (Erika) Looper, Erin (Tristan) Rivers, Tiffany (Shawn) Bradley, Carlee Castor, Joshua (Danielle) Castor, Jared (McKayla) Castor, Jordan (Kimberly) Ogle, & Samantha (Andy) Taylor; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; special friends, Frances & Billy England; and four-legged companion, Jack. She was preceded by her husband of 56 years, Clyde E. Schmidt; daughter, Diana Lynn Schmidt; father & step-mother, Harry & Meriam Ruth; mother, Minnie Stanley Wayland; siblings, Fred, Pansy, Mamie, Violet, & Harriett.

Services will be at 1pm Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation.
