A devoted family man and legend to many, John Patrick Reedy, Jr., passed away on September 8th, 2022. His strength was unmatched and his final days on Earth were his most courageous. John was born on June 29th, 1949, in Rensselaer, IN to the late John “Jack” Patrick Reedy, Sr. and the late Laura “Chick” Elizabeth Reedy. He was a veteran of the Navy and a member of the Zionsville Knights of Columbus.
John loved fiercely. He was passionate about his faith in God and his family meant the world to him. He was a proud Husband, Father, Brother, Gramps, Uncle, and mentor to many people. John was as rare as his steaks- handsome, sharp, witty, and onery at times. The greatest storyteller and had a real zest for life. He enjoyed cooking, grilling, and relaxing on the lake with a scotch in hand. He loved his pal Remi and all of the family dogs. He loved to go boating on the pontoon, golfing, fishing, and hunting.
For more than 40 years, John worked in the Concrete Product Industry. He was a well-respected leader and coach; he took great pride in his work. He devoted time to many state, regional and national associations. He retired in 2019 from Besser Company as the Sales Director for North America and continued to be a guiding light to many in the industry. After retiring, he quickly found a new hobby serving as a community board member. His incredible penmanship and eye for details were quickly noticed.
John is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Reedy of Coatesville, Indiana; Son: John (Adena) Reedy III of Liberty Township, Ohio; Daughters: Jessica (Brian) Heck of Westfield, Indiana, Janelle (Garey) Gates of Kapolei, Hawaii, Johanna Reedy of Des Moines, Iowa, Kristyn (Michael) Monceski of Carmel, Indiana and Jacqueline (Bradley) Dunlavey of Whitestown, Indiana; Brother: George (Susan) Reedy; Sisters-in-law: Nancy (Don) Pierce and Diane Behnke; Brothers-in-law: Gary Groharing, Dave Lutsch and Jim (Debra) Lutsch; 15 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Reedy; Sister, Coleen Groharing.
John was truly one of a kind. His legacy lives on through his family and friends. He will be missed dearly.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
