Donna Lynn Bedell January 31, 1952 – January 22, 2023
Donna Lynn Bedell, 70, Zionsville, IN, received her wings to Heaven on January 22nd, 2023, while resting peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born to Joseph and Patricia Medle while living in Indianapolis, IN, on January 31, 1952. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1970 and soon started working at Indiana Bell as a Directory Assistant Operator. She met her husband Greg while working at Indiana Bell. They agreed to start a life together in Whitestown, IN, on July 19, 1980.
Donna gave birth to two amazing daughters, Krystal 41 (Glen), and Jessie 39 (Adam). She loved her family, especially her 3 grandchildren, Erika Ping 13, MaryEllen Miller 9, and Dylan Miller 7. She retired after 30 years at the phone company. She held a few other part time jobs before she went to Hallmark and ultimately became co-manager of Hallmark until she decided to become a stay-at-home Grandma for her grandkids. She gave of herself in service in many ways, Worth Township Fire Department Auxiliary, Whitestown Pioneer Days, Whitestown Little League softball as a coach, bowling, Greater Indianapolis Area Emmaus Community, Whitestown and Zionsville United Methodist Churches, and of course to her friends and family.
Donna loved anything related to flowers and gardening. She enjoyed being outside with nature and camping with loved ones surrounded by a campfire. She was always in her happy place if she was on a beach with her feet in the sand, soothing sound of the waves of the water, and feeling the warmth of the sunshine on her face. She portrayed an enormous amount of strength and grace as she persevered through many years of her journey with cancer. She was never one to complain and counted blessings instead. Anyone who knew Donna, was loved by her and it was felt. Her love brought out the best in others and drew many toward her shining light.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandfather Wilson Owen. Survivors include her husband Greg Bedell, daughters Krystal (Glen) Casida and Jessie (Adam) Miller, grandchildren Erika Ping, Mary Ellen Miller, and Dylan Miller. Sisters Sharon (Steve) Mansfield, Cindy Mann, Jean (Art) Robinson, Patty (Paul) Blanton, and brother David Mann.
Visitation with the family will be February 12, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm and a Celebration of Life Memorial service to follow immediately at Zionsville United Methodist Church, 9644 Whitestown Rd Zionsville, IN 46077, with Pastor David Williamson officiating. The Celebration of Life will be live streamed for those unable to make it at Live Stream — Zionsville United Methodist Church (zumc.org).
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions are to be made in Donna’s name to Zionsville United Methodist Church PO Box 547, Zionsville, IN 46077 or visit ZUMC.org. The family also wants to thank St. Vincent Hospital and St. Vincent Hematology/Oncology staff for their expert care and compassion. We also want to thank our amazing friends and our church family at Zionsville United Methodist Church.
