Delmer James Wiles, 80 years old of North Salem, IN, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Methodist Hospital. He was born January 4, 1933 in Pulasky County, KY, son of the late Robert and Ada Thompson Whiles. Delmer married Doris Jean Goode on June 4, 1954. She survives. He was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, North Salem, the Optimist of Roachdale and Carpenters For Christ from Taladaga, AL. Delmer was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family. He taught Sunday School and was a deacon in his church. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and put his skills to work participating in many church trips helping to build churches. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Michael (Diana) Wiles of Crawfordsville, Tony (Laura) Wiles of Greenwood and Barry (Jodi) Wiles of Wingate, Grandchildren, Michall (Bryan) Shaw of New Ross, Courtney Wiles of Indianapolis, Noah Wiles of Ladoga, Caleb (Crystal) Wiles of Indianapolis, Jamie (fiance, Brendan McMahon) Wiles of Indianapolis, Jessica Wiles (companion Fil Torres) of Chicago, and Morgan Wiles of Wingate, great-grandchildren, Devin Shaw and Gavin Wiles, both of New Ross, Carson Wiles and Caitlyn Wiles, both of Indianapolis, and Brylee Wiles of Wingate, brother, Gerald (Ruth Ann) Wiles of North Salem and Frank (Judy) Wiles of Brownsburg and sister, Phyllis Greeson of Brownsburg. He was preceded in death by children, Debbie Wiles and Jimmy Wiles. Family and friends will gather Friday, July 26, 2013, 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, North Salem. Services will be held at the church, Saturday, July 27, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, North Salem.
