Irene Brown

Edna Irene Brown, 90, of Advance, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012. She was born January 1, 1922 in Typo, KY to the late Aiden Lovell and Bertha Owens. She was reared and educated in Crab Orchard, KY. Irene married James Brown and moved to Advance, IN. They had one daughter, Patricia Ann, who predeceased her in 1998. She was a member of the Jamestown church of Christ. She worked at Jones Grocery in Advance and Stewart Warner and Commercial Filters in Lebanon. She is survived by a sister, Edith Smith of Cincinnati, OH and sister-in-law, Gerry Owens of Advance. She was a devoted aunt to 8 nieces and nephews, 14 great, 23 great-great and 13 great-great-great nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Brown of Brodhead, KY and a brother, Aiden Lovell Owens, Jr. of Advance. Family and friends will gather, Friday, December 28, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, IN. Steve Niemeier will officiate her funeral at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Jamestown IOOF Cemetery.
