Joe Edward Thomas, 74 years old of Jamestown, IN, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born September 28, 1939 in Lagnau, KY, son of William C Thomas and Nancy (Johnson) Thomas. Joe loved woodworking, landscaping and gardening. He loved spending time with his kids and especially his grandkids. He was the president of the Jamestown Town Council and a supporter of the fire department. Joe was an avid volunteer and was a member of Jamestown American Legion Post 395 and UAW Union 933. Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Thomas of Jamestown, daughter Sherri (Chad) Grizzle of Lebanon, son Ken (Dawn) Thomas of Watertown, TN and daughter Teresa (Ron) Schafer of Lebanon, mother, Nancy (Johnson) Thomas, brothers, James Everett (Mary Lou) Thomas, David (Karen) Thomas, Don Thomas, and Rick Thomas, sisters, Mary Rose Thomas, Sue (Jim) Hayes and Betty (Robert) Urban, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William C Thomas, and brothers, Ernest Thomas and Bill Thomas. Family and friends will gather Wednesday, January 1, 2014, 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 2, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, Indiana. Services will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Ailes officiating. Joe will be laid to rest following the service in the Jamestown I.O.O.F.
