Phyllis Carol Lewis, 78 years old of North Salem, IN, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1934 in North Salem, IN, daughter of the late Frank Eldridge and Opal Lucille Broach Barnhart. Phyllis married Harrison Eugene (Gene) Lewis on September 27, 1976 in Danville, IN. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 142 of North Salem. She owned 3 restaurants through the years in North Salem ending with Phil’s Diner. Phyllis was a wonderful wife, beautiful mother of 5 children, incredible grandmother and great-grandmother of 14. Surviving are daughters, Carla S. Roberts and Jody Sellers, both of Crawfordsville. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by children, Cheryle Kay Smith of Kingston, GA, Dennis Wayne Bennett of North Salem, IN and Melissa Lynn Hart of Crawfordsville, IN, one grandchild, James Douglas Larew of Waynetown, IN, sister, Lois Patricia Clore of North Salem, and brothers, Robert Wayne Barnhart of Whiteland, IN, Donald Edward Barnhart of North Salem, IN and Frank Eldridge Barnhart of Brownsburg, IN. Family and friends will be received Friday, May 17, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, Indiana. Services will be held at the funeral home, Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Art Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
