Sue Belle Shields

Sue Belle Shields, 92 years old of Lizton, IN, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Homewood Healthcare. She was born October 25, 1917, in Charlestown, Indiana, daughter of the late John Peyton and the late Della Masmer Peyton. She was married to Russell E. Guernsey on November 25,1937 who passed away in1946. She married Veral Shields on November 25, 1985. He passed away in 2004 . She was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker but also had worked for the WW Poultry Company in Jamestown and as a bookkeeper for the Jamestown Grain Company. She also had worked for the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville. Her favorite pastime was gardening and needlework. She graduated Charlestown High School in 1935. Surviving are sons, Robert E. Guernsey (Nancy) of Lebanon and John L. Guernsey (Linda)of North Salem;daughter, Rebecca Sue Guernsey of Cumming, Georgia; 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.. Friends will be received 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 26, at the Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, Indiana. Services will be held at Porter Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 11:00am with Rev. Brent Wright and Pastor Dan Cline officiating.
