Thomas Alan Lusk died peacefully at his home in Greenwood on January 2, preceded in death by his father, Donald Lusk. He is survived by his mother, Shirley; brothers Steven (wife Jeri), Dan, and Scott (wife Heather); children Diane, Donald, Hailey, and Michele; and grandchildren Addison, Elaina, and Cameron.
Tom was born May 3, 1962 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The family lived in Ypsilanti, Mich., LaPorte, Ind., Ingleside, Ill., and then Minnesota, where Tom graduated from Rosemount High School in 1981. He moved to Texas at the age of 18 to apprentice then become a sprinkler fitter, soon joining the Sprinkler Fitters Union. When Tom moved back to the Midwest in the 90s, he became a member of Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 where he met some of his closest friends and was considered a Union role model. Tom retired from sprinkler fitting in 2018, but remained a part of the union brotherhood. His retirement gave him the opportunity to travel extensively in his RV with daughter Hailey and spend more time at the family lake cottage in Michigan. He loved making memories with family, especially drinking RumChata or Makers Mark around the fire pit.
He gave tough love but was a genuine person, someone who understood you. He loved college football, Chicago Blackhawks, GreenBay Packers, University of Texas (Hook ’em Horns), Greenwood Woodmen Athletics, trap shoots, and golf outings.
Whether he was doing a double backflip over the bonfire, cooking lasagna and pork loin in the RV oven, channeling Cousin Eddie in a van in the middle of New York City, or cheering his favorite competitive eater, Tom did it with a wry smile, a Swisher Sweets in the corner of his mouth, and a big heart.
Tom abides…
