Albert “Bert” Clayton Benner

Albert Clayton Benner, also known as Bert, passed away on September 16, 2023, at the age of 75 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on June 14, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio.

Bert had a distinguished military career, serving in the Army and the National Guard for eight years, reaching the rank of E6. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he proudly served with honor and distinction.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of 54 years, son, Brian, and furry son Maxwell. He is also survived by his brother, Andrew Charles (Patty). Other survivors are his sister-in-law, Kimberly Strich, nieces, Nicole Faulkner (Thomas), Melissa Loudermilk (Danny), and Samantha Strich (Austin Caylor), nephews, Andrew Benner, Jr. (Yvette), Brad Benner (Kelly) and several great nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Benner, Sr and Cora Ann, and nephew Mark Benner.

After his military service, Bert pursued a successful career in the field of purchasing. He worked as a Buyer for eight years before advancing to the position of Purchasing Manager, where he dedicated twenty-five years of his life. Bert’s expertise and dedication in his profession were highly regarded by his colleagues and peers.

Bert was a man of faith and found solace in worship. For over 52 years, he was a devoted member of College Avenue Methodist Church. His commitment to his religious community was unwavering, and he found comfort and strength in his faith.

He was also one of the founders of Big Brothers and Sisters of Delaware County. He served as a board member for nine years and fifteen years as a Big Brother.

In his free time, Bert enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and giving back to his community. He had a passion for animals and supported the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). The funeral arrangements for Bert Benner are being handled by Simplicity, located in Zionsville. The funeral home will provide guidance and support to the family during this difficult time.

Bert’s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His dedication to his country, successful career, and unwavering faith, serve as a testament to the remarkable life he led. May he rest in peace.
