Alma “Anniece” Shelburne

Alma Anniece (Tharp) Shelburne, age (91), of Zionsville, Indiana, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.  Born on November 23, 1931, in Nady, Arkansas, to the late James William and Mattie Estelle (Hughes) Tharp.  Anniece was a 1949 graduate of Gillette High School.  She was married to the late Don K. Shelburne on November 27, 1950.  She was an LPN until her retirement in 1993.

Anniece loved God, her family, working in her garden, and participating in Bible studies and served her family and others sewing and quilting, cooking and baking.

Anniece is survived by her children Dianna (Shelburne) Hopper, Rebecca (Shelburne) Moreland (Mark), Mark Shelburne and Julana Shelburne; her siblings James William Tharp Jr. (Shirley); Carroll Wayman Tharp Sr., Martha Jane (Tharp) Beecher (Garry) and Joseph Wayne Tharp; her sister-in-law Anita (Shelburne) Graham (Bud), Pat (Goodnight) Tharp and Judy (Hobbs) Tharp; her grandchildren Dennis Hopper (Michelle), Michael Hopper (Sara), Kristina (Hopper) Wise-Emkow, Sara (Hopper) Dahl (Jason), Stephanie Moreland, Mark Thomas Moreland II (Kristina), D.J. Moreland (Kara), Brandi (Lee) Nelson and Joshua Lee (April); many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Mattie Estelle (Hughes) Tharp; father and mother-in law, Roy Herbert and Bessie Mae (Engledow) Shelburne; her sisters Francis Jeanette (Tharp) Menard, and Shirley Ruth (Tharp) Abraham, and brothers Burl Harlan Tharp, Russell Dexter Tharp, Paul Arnold Tharp, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm, December 13, 2023, at Zionsville Fellowship, 9090 E. State Road 334, Zionsville, IN 46077.  Services will be held immediately after visitation at 1:00pm.  A private family burial will take place at Hutton Cemetery, rural Zionsville. Services have been entrusted to Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care of Zionsville.
