Barbara M. Spoelstra, nee Barbara Hume, nee Barbara Dailey, passed away October 12th, 2023, at her home in Greenwood, Indiana.

Barbara was born in Ashland, Kentucky, and lived near Lawrenceburg. She graduated from Anderson County High School.  After marrying Bruce Hume, they moved to Indiana, living in Indianapolis, Whiteland, and Bargersville.

After remarrying, she and her husband, Herbert Spoelstra, lived in the Greenwood area, most recently in Greenwood Village for 24 years.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Brently and Barton Hume, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara was a charter member of the New Whiteland Christian Church, and later active in the Bluff Creek Christian Church. She most recently was attending the Greenwood Christian Church.

Graveside service for Barbara will be Wednesday, October 18 at 2:15 pm at Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the graveside service on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel.

My heart is broken. This lady was my moms best friend when I was growing up. She also worked for over a year to bring me and my husband together on a blind date because she knew we would work together. Such a sweet person and loved her laugh. She called me and Polly Bailer her girls. I sent her a thanksgiving card yearly thanking her for my husband. She was a jewel and will forever have a solid place in our hearts.
