Billie Jewel Dalton, age 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 13, 2024. She was born in Eustis, Florida, on November 27, 1932, to Joseph and Hattie McRee, both of whom preceded her in death. Billie was a 1950 graduate of Eustis High School where she was the captain of the basketball team, a cheerleader, and a member of the student body. She married Voorhees “Jim” Dalton on October 15, 1955, and together they enjoyed 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2022. Billie retired from a secretarial position after 18 years at Indianapolis Public Schools and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood.
She is survived by her children: Joe (Gail) Dalton, Kathy (Mitch) Mosier, and Greg Dalton; sister: Lois Monteith; brother: Bobby McRee; grandchildren: Cole (Kat) Dalton, Tiffany (Josh) Agee, Kayla (Trent) Hagerty, Megan (Adam) Gowan, Kaitlyn (Jake) Rosen, Sarah (Bobby) Schofield, Micah (Lily) Mosier, Ben (Jaimie) Mosier, and Hannah (Seth) Abdallah; great-grandchildren: Layla, Clay, Andy, Tucker, Aidan, Olivia, Audrey, Madilyn, Sadie, Evelyn, Holden, Eliana, Samuel, and Zion; as well as a great-granddog: Appa.
Billie is also preceded in death by her brother: Joe McRee.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. A private entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
