Billie L. Wathen

Billie “Bill” L. Wathen, 96, of Avon, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Bill was born in Evansville, Indiana on April 10, 1927, a son of the late Vincent and Clara Wathen. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie J. Wathen and son Paul Wathen.  His wife, Laura Chambers Wathen, survives.

He had a long and dedicated work history, beginning at Allison Transmission and retiring from General Motors (formerly Allison Transmission). He was a WWII Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific region.  He and Laura loved to travel, hike and bowl.  Their last trip together was only a few years ago when they drove out west and back, by themselves.

Survivors include his daughter; Gail Richards (Mark); son Dan (Glenda); granddaughter Abby Jacobs (Josh); grandson Eric; granddaughter Bethany Wyant (Sam); granddaughter Alyssa Wathen; great granddaughters Shylynn Wathen, Kiersten Cheesman, Ashlynn Cheesman and Madilyn Jacobs; Great Grandsons Anthony Jr. and Logan Cheesman, and two Great Great Granddaughters.

There will be no funeral service but a memorial service will be planned in the future.
