Bobbie “Bob” Lee Kingery, age 77, of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on November 23, 1946, to the late Eddie Lee Kingery and Eva Leota (Bosley) Kingery, both of Kentucky. He attended school #20 and Manual High School in Indianapolis, graduating in 1964. He was a great athlete, playing both baseball and basketball, although he humbly turned down an opportunity/invitation to try out and play for the Indianapolis Indians, minor league baseball. His athletic ability would later be passed on to his daughters and grandchildren. He worked for a small company right out of high school, Cook News. It wasnt long before he would begin a 28-year career at United Parcel Service (UPS), retiring at the early age of 47. His passions in life included coaching his daughter’s softball teams at the Center Grove Lassie League as well as basketball at the Center Grove Girls Youth Basketball program. Bob had an amazing “green thumb”, he shared his mother’s love for gardening. Neighbors would frequently comment on how beautiful his yard looked. Bob also loved movies, art & music, feeding the birds and any other critters that would browse through his yard, “everyone’s gotta eat”, he would say. His grandchildren would call him “Dat”, “Bob” and “Tito”, the relationship he had with them was extraordinary.
Survivors include his two daughters, Emily Kingery (Norberto Villegas) of Indianapolis, Amy Bach (Bryan) of Fairland, Indiana; one sister, Susan Moffitt (Tony) of Indianapolis, six grandchildren, Marquis Kingery, Leigha Smith, Cameron Kingery, Jacob Archie, Isabel Kingery and Diego Villegas; 7 great granchildren; Mya, Kylan, Londyn, Kali, Kevin, Milani and Maddox
