Bruce Harold Armstrong, 76, passed away February 29, 2024, after a battle with cancer.

He was born March 5, 1947, in Huntington, West Virginia and was a resident of Pendleton, Indiana. Prior to moving to Pendleton, he lived in Connersville for over 30 years.

Survivors include daughters, Jessica (Jeremy) Metz of Fishers, Samantha (Andrew) Hodges of Pendleton, Emily (Nathan) Anderson, and sons, Mark (Myndie) Armstrong, and Kent (Robin) Armstrong; grandchildren, Eli, Bennett and Everett Metz, Tenley and Graham Hodges, Delani and Aiden Armstrong; siblings, Shelley (George) Elkins of Crewe, Virginia and Richard (Mary) Armstrong of Chester, Virginia; and nephews, Brian (Lindsay) and Eric (Moriah) Elkins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Karen (Lee) Armstrong; and parents, Oran and Jean (Miller) Armstrong.

Bruce was a graduate of Indiana University, receiving both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education and counseling, and taught English before becoming an administrator and later counselor, in several local school systems. There is no succinct way to describe Bruce or how genuinely he loved and cared for people, but if you knew him, you know he gave his time, treasure, and talents generously. Bruce enjoyed sharing music, old and new, and his favorite season of the year was football season. He had a strong faith and lived to serve and encourage others and share the Gospel.

A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Fall Creek Christian Church, 1102 West 700 South, Pendleton, Indiana. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. with service at 7 p.m. To honor him, his family requests that you wear your favorite sports team attire or concert t-shirt. Dear Armstrong Family. I had the distinct honor of providing care for Bruce twice. We made a great connection. When we last parted, Bruce told me he’d see me in Heaven, and that he was looking forward to seeing his wife. He was a brave man. God bless you all in your hour of grief, but rejoice that he is alive and well again!!! With my deepest condolences. Tom

I just the obituary today,Saturday March 9. I was a student at Union County High School class of 1988. Mr.Armstrong was a wonderful counselor and friend. I was in his Peer Facility class. He not only helped me in school but years after. My condolences to you all.

Thoughts and prayers for Bruce’s family. We looked forward to see Bruce taking a walk in the neighborhood and talking to Bruce. God bless.

May Mr. Armstrong rest in peace. He was such an important person in my high school life, when I attended FCHS 1996-2000. Mr. Armstrong saw something in me and worked with me as a peer facilitator from my freshman year on. Learning how to serve others, to really listen, and to open my heart to people who were living through difficult moments are skills he trained me in, and these have been such instrinsic skills throughout my life as a teacher, mom, and a volunteer CASA. I am grateful to Mr Armstrong for all he taught me, for the extra time he spent with me, and the wisdom he imparted. He was a great man and His legacy lives on.

Our deepest sympathies with so much love and prayers. Bruce was truly loved here on earth and now rejoicing with the saints.

I worked with Bruce for many years at Franklin County High School. He was always willing to help a student no matter the circumstances. He was active in the successful peer student program that focused on kids helping kids. We shared a passion for kids’ books that he shared with my daughter Sarah. Mr. A was a great counselor and friend.
