Carl M. NorthCarl M. North 91, Indianapolis, died December 11, 2015 at his home. He was born in 1924 in Williams County, Ohio. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Central Europe. On December 5, 1946 he married Mary E. North (who preceded him in death). Together they were a couple that radiated strength, composure and happiness. In 1950, they moved to Terre Haute, Indiana for Carl to attend Rose Hulman on GI bill. He graduated in 1955 and began working for Paul J. Kleiser & Associates. While there, they made friendships that have lasted a lifetime. In 1965, they relocated to Indianapolis for him to begin work for the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Engineering, State of Indiana. He became the Director of Engineering and later the State Engineer, Public Works Division. Carl was known for his work ethic, dedication to family and sense of humor. Survivors include daughter Carla North and three of his 13 siblings, Dean (Elsie) North of Edon, Ohio, Rosemary Renn of Marion, Ohio and Helen Grandy of Bryan, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to organizations that promote the conservation of natural resources or scholarships for education.
