Charles “Curly” Alan Curless, 83, of Anderson passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024. Curly was born on August 24, 1940, in Elwood, IN to the late Marvin and Mary (Nicholson) Curless. He married the love of his life, Diana Allen, and the two were married for 51 years before his passing. Curly faithfully served his country in the United States Navy from 1958-1962. After his honorable discharge, he began working for Delco-Remy on the production line and he worked there for 30 years before his retirement. Curly found his spiritual home at Christ Lutheran Church and was a faithful member for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 313 in Fairmount. Curly loved to bowl, play golf, watch sports, and cheer on IU.
Curly will be dearly missed by his wife, Diana; children, Teresa Pitts, John Pitts, and Lisa (late, Bill Green) Pitts; granddaughters, Chelsea Henderson and Savannah (Nick Griffin) Pitts; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Gracie, Charles, Mary Elizabeth, and James; brother, Gary (Brenda) Hipes; sister, Susan Brandenburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Curless; and brother-in-law, John Brandenburg.
The visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The funeral ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor John Jameson will be officiating. The burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Curly’s name may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, 2751 N Scatterfield Rd., Anderson, IN 46012 or the Hopewell Center, PO Box 3150 Anderson, IN 46018.
