Charles Edward D’Amour, 68, Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, September 6.He was born November 13, 1947 in Indianapolis to George C. D’Amour and Mary (Moore) D’Amour .� They preceded him in death.Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Barbara Hook-Griggs (Bishop), Shelley Helmerick, Jeremiah Erisman (Brandy), Nicole Erisman-Simpson (Harley), Hanna Helmerick, Logan Helmerick, Stephaine Simpson, Nevaeh Tillman, Harley Simpson II, Serenity Erisman, Sophia Simpson, and Jeremiah Erisman, II and is also survived by a long time friend, Susan Rasmussen.Ed was a 1966 graduate of Pike High School in Indianapolis. �He attended United States Navy Service School, Officer Candidate School, and San Jose State University. �He also took National Diversity Compliance Courses through Charles Schwab Company.He was a U.S. Navy veteran.His employment included NEC Electronics, D’Amour & Associates Marketing Firm, Meridian Management, and Dining D’Amour Catering Service. �He also worked at Charles Schwab Company, and Bleecker, Brody & Andrews Law Firm. Most recently, he was employed by H & R Block as a Tax Consultant.His memberships included the Columbia Club of Indianapolis, Toastmasters International, BPAA Business Professional Advertising Association, and the National LAMBDA Association Minority Legal Defense League.Ed was quite a volunteer. �He helped with the World Police & Fire Games, the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, the Marion County Election Committee to Elect Evan Bayh Governor of Indiana, Riley Children Hospital Annual Santa for Christmas, and the National Diversity Board for Diversity Training & Support.He received honors from the U.S. Navy with the Military Leadership Award. �He was named USN Man of the Month in January 1968, and the National Electronics Advertising Award in 1983.A celebration of life service is scheduled for November 13, with details forthcoming.�He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
