Cheryl Jane Solomon, 66 of Wilkinson went home peacefully, Friday, January 7, 2022 at her residence.

Cheryl was escorted by her beautiful Savior into His dwelling place exactly as the sun was setting on the horizon on Friday afternoon. The sun was still shining through the window onto her lovely face as she took her last breath with her family. She no longer needs the sun, which she always loved. She is now with the Son, whom she loved incomparably more and now worships and dances in the fullness of His presence. God has been so good.

Cheryl enjoyed being in the outdoors, camping and gardening. She loved writing letters of encouragement to those who were burdened, seen and unseen. Her family was her joy, raising and teaching four daughters to be women of God. Her three grandchildren brought a new season of joy into her life. And her devotion to her husband never wavered.
Her nursing care stretched well beyond the hospital into the community, church and neighbors, never passing by someone who needed care. Her ministry to others was a vivid example of Jesus’ command to love your neighbor as yourself.

She was born March 19, 1955, in Pasadena, California the daughter of the late Roderick and Jane (Reist) Highfield.

Cheryl was a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson for 25 years before retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Professional Nursing Association & Christ Fellowship Church.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kurt Solomon; daughters, Charis Solomon of San Francisco, Cindy (Scott) Malefyt of Kijabe Kenya, Miriam (Matthew) Henry of Anderson and Beth Solomon of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Clare & Samuel Malefyt and Blayke Henry; sister, Linda (James) Everet of Anderson, several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; David & Randall Highfield, one grandchild, and nephew Cory Elza Fisher.

Due to the recurrence of COVID-19, the family is concerned about the health and safety of all family and friends. Therefore, at this time there will be a private family funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.

Dear Curt. We are so saddened to hear of Cheryl's passing. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. We pray that God holds you in the comforting palms of his living hands.

As a member of Madison County Nursing Honor Guard, I would like to express our sympathy for the loss of our nurse peer, Cheryl. We appreciate her years of dedication to her nursing career. She is now relieved of her earthly duties.

So sorry to learn of Cheryl's passing but we know that she is home where she wanted to be, lovingly greeted by many family members. We got together mainly when we were younger but Cheryl was always kind and loving to all the family. Thank you for adding the link for AIM. I have fond memories of packing boxes to send to Aunt Jane and Uncle Rod when they were in Mwanza.

My condolences to Kurt and the girls. I'm sure my mom and dad have met up with Cheryl in heaven.

Prayers and thoughts lifted up to Kurt and the girls. Appreciated Kurt and Charis' friendship at work and know that one day there will be great rejoicing when we are reunited in heaven with our Savior.

To the family I've known so many yrs my deepest sorrow for your loss. But she is in Gods hands now!

My sweet coworker in HHC. And my sons went to Liberty Christian school with her daughters. She was a great nurse and witness for the Lord✝ Praying for her family in their grief but joy for her graduation day!

My sincerest condolences to Kurt and the girls, but at the same time I rejoice that she has been released and is where she has been welcomed by those who have passed and waiting for her . The memories I hold of when our families were together I hold close.

I treasure the memories I have of Cheryl and her mother Jane, in Jane's Anderson apartment. Very strong facial resemblance and they could nearly finish each other's sentences. I loved their stories of Tanzanian life. Then I met Linda too and it was such a privilege to know this Christian family and their out reach of love. I thank God for bringing the Highfield family into my life. I know those who remain will continue to bring joy to their world. I know Cheryl is at peace in the presence of God.

What a beautiful testimony to the loving grace and mercy of God. I spent the most time in her presence when I was much, much younger but I still remember how warm and caring she always was, and so beautiful! My condolences to the family on this earthly loss but rejoice that she is free and with our Savior!
