Darcey Edward Elmore (67) of Zionsville, passed away on January 30, 2024. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on December 6, 1956, and preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Elmore and Carole Jean Elmore and his sister, Tina Elmore.
He is survived by his loving wife Anne (Kroemer) for 43 years; children Ryan & (Christine,) Laurie, and Bryce; sisters Connie Elmore-Neal and Joni Scott (Dennis) and two grand-daughters Anastasia and Katarina. He was tenderly known as “Grumps” by his granddaughters, as they loved sharing Saturday morning donuts at the town park together. Darcey’s favorite pastime was enjoying all the time spent with family.
Darcey was baptized October 11, 2022, by the Rev. James Grady of Advent Lutheran Church. He graduated from Anderson High School and Ball State University with a degree in Marketing. During this time, he was an active member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity making lifelong friends.
He began his career with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in sales. Soon after, he joined CEP Sales as a manufacturer representative and part owner until his retirement in December 2018, after 32 years. In addition to work, Darcey had many hobbies. He earned his private pilot license and enjoyed RC planes. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed making his sports cars perform, as a member of Putnam Park Road Course. One of his favorite days was Wednesday steak night at Putnam, after testing his skills around the course. A few of his favorite motorcycle trips included Deals Gap in Tennessee and Sturgis, South Dakota, as well as couples’ trips to Colorado and Charleston, SC. Darcey had a keen engineering mind often tinkering with gadgets, electronics, computers and everyday objects. He was referred by the family as the guy who fixes everything. His persistent nature was evident as he would work on projects until he figured them out!
Visitation will be on Sunday February 4 from 4-7pm at Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 11250 N. Michigan Road. Service will be on Monday February 5 at 3pm at Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Zionsville Cemetery. Following the burial, the family would encourage family and friends to stay at the Church for a light dinner with a time to share fond memories of Darcey.
