David Bruce Steele passed away at St. Francis Hospital, Greenwood, IN on Tuesday, January 12 from complications due to COVID. To Donna and family - I am so sorry for your loss. David was such a fine man - so joyful and had a great love for the Lord. Jack and I so enjoyed your time in Beardstown with our congregation. Jack passed away in June 2018 and I miss him terribly but I know he is in heaven rejoicing with the ones that have gone before us . I remember the quilt that you made and hung in the halls at the school, it was so beautiful. I'm sure you've put together many more beautiful quilts since then. When I see a beautiful quilt I always think of you and how well you could put them together. Handstitching is definitely not my talent ! God comfort you in your loss, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Donna and family. I wanted to take the time to tell you of the impact David was upon my Journey. He took me under his wing as a new believer. He worked to help me balance out my expectations as a believer headed off to Bible College, as a non-traditional student. I remember that he had memorized so much of the Bible and would act out those chapters.
I am sad that we lost touch but have thought of him often. I look forward to seeing him again and to see his smile.

To Donna and the Family, When I was in my early 20's, I served as a dean at Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora, Illinois. One of the first things I needed to do was to secure a missionary for the week to raise money for. I was told immediately by a friend that I should contact David Steele, who was serving with TCM at the time. I made the call and David enthusiastically agreed to serve for the week. I knew the moment I met David that we had the right guy. When he spoke to the kids that week, he had them in the palm of his hand. I had never seen anything like it. In fact, I wanted to be able to do that. He spoke with such passion. We exceeded our goal and raised $1,000 for the mission. Fast forward several years and I'm in my mid 40's. We were looking to hire an Administrative Minister and David sent a resume. Knowing what I knew, we jumped at the opportunity to hire him and felt blessed to bring David and Donna to First Christian Church, in Beardstown, Illinois. Though older, David had lost none of his passion and enthusiasm for ministry. I remember my first conversation with him and he explained to me that his job was to "make my job easier and make me look better". I assure you, he did both. Now in my late 50's, I know I am a better man and minister because of David Steele, and I'm glad God caused our paths to cross. Donna, you are the epitome of a minister's wife and life partner. As is the case for me, David was better and stronger because of you. Please know that your friends at FCC in Beardstown are praying for you and the rest of the family during this difficult time.Mike Courson, Beardstown

To David's entire family,I had the unique pleasure to have worked along side with David as a part time driver at NDX Lumident. He inspired all, every day, with his wisdom, his jokes & a positive outlook, no matter what the issue. Most notably, David helped me cope with my last dying brother two years ago, with ways to help deal with his horrible disease. David had such a way with people! To all of you, that had David either as a husband, a father, a sibling or as grandchild, you were all so very blessed & can be so proud of his journey through life.May he rest peacefully, Jeff Foxworthy

Donna, Chris and family - Dee and I send our condolences to you all as you grieve the loss of David. He was a humble servant of Christ, a lover of people and he was committed to the mission of the church, taking the gospel to every nation. Donna, we often recall when you and Dave bought the 8' x 42' trailer we lived in our first year of marriage, especially when we see the size of some RV's today! And we were fortunate to have Chris and Tonya serve with us at Taylorville Christian Church. Chris was our youth minister and became a mentor to our son, Dave. He baptized him and stood up with him at his wedding. Tonya taught in our preschool as well. David was instrumental in TCC becoming a partner with TCM International in the mid- 90's, supporting several students who studied at Haus Edelweiss and the ministry as well. I know he will be missed, and his legacy of loving service will continue bearing fruit for God's kingdom for many years to come.
