David Lee “Goose” Tatum, age 72, of Greenwood, passed away on April 8, 2024. He was born February 12, 1952, to Carl and Alyce Tatum, both of whom preceded him in death. Goose graduated from Elwood High School, where he was the captain of the football team. He earned a football scholarship to Butler University and was the president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Goose enjoyed reading, cooking, playing golf, going fishing, working sudoku and crossword puzzles, and playing cribbage, and was always the life of the party. Dave owned a bar in South Bend, close to Notre Dame, called Goose’s Nest in the late 70’s. His career was spent doing estimates for HVAC/ventilation for large businesses and corporations.
He is survived by his daughters: Samantha (Axle) Burton, and Elizabeth (Kevin) Crotchfelt; siblings: Rose (Jack) Must, Cindy Readle, Kathy Cohee, Carla Tatum; as well as his grandchildren: Kaela Crotchfelt, Kyle Crotchfelt, and Braxton Burton.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter: Madeline Burton.
A celebration of life will take place Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Whit’s Inn, 1020 US 31 South, Whiteland IN 46184.
