Deborah (Hand) Halvorson, 72, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Life’s Journey Hospice Care in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Debbie and her twin brother, Steven, were born to Ivan and Dorothy (DeWald) Hand on September 27, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She earned a B.S. degree in Business from Iowa State University where she met her husband-to-be, Vance Halvorson. They were married March 31, 1973 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and lived in Naperville, Illinois for 38 years where they raised their two children: Chad Halvorson and Brooke (Halvorson) Myer. After retiring, they relocated in 2015 to the Indianapolis area to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Debbie’s natural organizational and detail skills were the basis of her working career but her true joys were found in family. She enjoyed home decorating, vintage/thrift shopping, word puzzles and reading. Debbie considered her life achievements being life partner to Vance and devoted mother/grandmother.
She is survived by those she cherished most: husband, Vance; children, Chad Halvorson and Brooke Myer (husband Andrew); grandchildren, Layla and Madelyn Halvorson and Daphne Myer; brother, Steven Hand (wife Ruth) and sister, Julia Hay (husband Stephen). Her cremated remains will be interred in Naperville (IL) Cemetery.
