Duane Lee Johnson, 70, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away November 23, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis on December 11, 1952. Duane grew up in Beech Grove, Indiana, with his parents Robert and Nadine Johnson, and sister Karen. He is a 1971 graduate of Beech Grove High School. In 1973, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served 2 years in Germany. He married Janice Sacha Johnson of Highland, Indiana that same year. Duane and Janice raised their children Andrew and Lauren in Franklin Township, then relocated to Greenwood in 2005.
Duane completed a baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Public and Environmental Affairs from Indiana University. He was employed at Indiana Boys School as a counselor, then pursued a career in logistics and management at Boise-Cascade, Target, Boehringer-Mannheim, Red Cats, and Caterpillar. He has been retired since 2011.
Survivors include wife Janice Johnson; son Andrew T. Johnson of Evergreen, Colorado, (wife Macaria Hauser); granddaughters Tatem and Isabella; sister Karen Johnson Phillips of Brookfield, Wisconsin; and many beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents Robert L. Johnson and F. Nadine Lawrence Johnson; and daughter Lauren Sacha Johnson.
No immediate service is planned, but a gathering in his memory will be held in the Spring.
