Elizabeth Jane “Bette” Dozier, 91, passed away August 24, 2016 after a long, courageous battle with Dementia.� She was born September 8, 1924 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Joseph P. and Helen M. (Solliard) Heritier.Left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 70 years, Ethan E. Dozier; children, Sharon L. (Larry) Walters and Nancy A. Dozier; grandchildren, Suzanne M. (David) Finn, Willis G. Bastin IV, Brent J. (Jennifer) Givens, Erik E. Bastin, and Kristin M. (Joseph) Huss; great grandchildren, Braden Givens, Jenna Givens, Jonathan (Avery) Finn, Karson Huss, Rosemary Bastin, and Kendyl Huss; sister, Maxine Schaffer; sisters-in-law, Lita (Wally) Truelock and Lorene Key; many nieces, nephews, and friends here locally and in Florida.She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph O. Dozier, brothers and sisters, Edith Heritier, Richard O. (Dick) Heritier, Irene Wantland, Rosemary Lynn, Blanche Campbell, Louis Heritier, John Heritier, Armand Heritier; brother and sisters-in-law, Raymond Dozier, Maxine Lumsden, Aline Roberts, Nina Chin, Margaret Harris, Phyllis (Faye) Lilly, and Shirley Polley.Bette worked for many years in the Anderson Community School System and later retired as a manager of the Northside Middle School cafeteria.� She and Ethan then moved to North Fort Myers, FL where they enjoyed 30 years of retirement.� She was very active in the park where they lived, and was at one time President of the Residents Association.�� She loved her family above all, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.� She had a quick wit, loved to play cards and sew, and participate in activities at the park.� She will be greatly missed.Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.Arrangements have been entrusted to Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care.
