Emma Jean Hussung Kodama

Emma Jean (Lawson, Hussung) Kodama passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Franklin Meadows Long Term Health Care Center on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  She was 95 years old.

Jean, as she was known to family and friends, was born to the late Renfro M. and Edith E. (Hensley) Lawson on October 2, 1927, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was a long-time resident of the Speedway and Indianapolis areas and was very proud of being a 1945 graduate of Ben Davis High School.  She was also very proud to have worked for many decades in women’s fashion sales for the historical William H. Block Company Department Store in downtown Indianapolis.  Jean enjoyed being active in her neighborhood community and had a great love for gardening and league bowling.

Mrs. Kodama was preceded in death by her parents, a son (Albert Hussung), and two husbands, Albert J. Hussung of Indianapolis and Benjamin Kodama of Hawaii She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia McDaniel, Suzan Omer and Tina Brandalise and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be sweetly remembered and missed by all the staff at Franklin Meadows Long Term Health Care Center and by her Guardian, Rebecca Pryor.

Funeral service will be held 11:00am, Monday, October 16^th at Wilson St Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana, 46142 with calling from 10:00 to service time. She will be laid to rest in Forrest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. All are welcome to attend.
