Fern Jordan Cox Hadley, 103, of Danville, In. passed away on March 15, 2013. She was born on Dec. 1, 1909 to Harry & Lilly Jordan in North Salem, In. Fern attended North Salem High School and completed her education in 1930 at Central Normal College, Danville, In. She was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 75 yrs. Fern taught school in N.S. for 9 yrs. and married Earl Cox who preceded her in death. They owned and operated the Cox Funeral Home in North Salem for 19 yrs. Fern moved to Danville, In. and went on to a new & exciting career. She served as Probation Officer and Bailiff of the Hendricks County Circuit Court for over 18yrs. Fern was also the first employee of the Hendricks County Welfare Dept. where she established, managed & developed the original Hendricks County Welfare Program. She married Judge George Hadley in 1958 until his death in 1959. Fern was the beloved sister of Joe Jordan who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her nephew David (Maggie) Jordan of North Salem, her great nephews and nieces Jamie (Kim), Joe (Bridget), Michael (Karen), Javona (Tim), Marcia (Stephen), Alicia, & Carol (Michael). Friends and family will gather Monday, March 18, 2013, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem. Services will be Tuesday, March 19, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
